Manta Dive Gili Air, your next travel destination! How to choose your Gili Air Hotel

It’s time for your vacation and deciding where to go on holidays can be a stress of its own, so we’ll make your life easy and tell you why our corner of paradise should be on your hit list of places to visit! First of all, you want to go somewhere exotic and far from your office, you are also thinking of coconut trees, bungalows, beach and stunning mountain views and last but not least you do not want to be in the middle of a bunch of tourists with selfie sticks.  You just want the right amount of atmosphere for a drink, lots of laughs and a good chat. If this is you, welcome to our tropical paradise, welcome to Gili Air!

Is Gili Air right for me?Sunset in Gili Island

Gili Air belongs to a small archipelago of three islands in Indonesia, called the Gilis. Each island has its own personality. Gili Trawangan is the party island, Gili Meno is ideal if you want to escape from people, and Gili Air, well it has just the perfect balance of activity and relaxation.

The Gilis have been named by Lonely Planet as the best place to learn scuba diving! This is of course because the islands enjoy majestic marine life and pristine coral reefs, but there is way more. Gili Air has the most coconut trees of the three Gilis and it has transparent waters with average of 25 meters crystal-clear visibility! White sand beaches surround the whole island and of course the bright sun holds the temperature of the island idyllic between 27 and 30 degrees Celcius (80.6 – 86.0 Farenheit).  Around the whole island you can choose a spot where you can get your golden tan while reading your novel and enjoying an ice-cold margarita. In the afternoon you can go for a walk through the streets of the island, get yourself a tropical shirt and delight yourself with a beer and some reggae music. Oh, yes! You don’t have to worry about a thing… (Bob Marley... reggae, see what we did there…) Deluxe Room Garden

However, you might be thinking: “Sounds great, but aren’t there many places like this already?” You are completely right and this is why we will tell you about the only thing you will definitely not find anywhere else, the culture of the indigenous Sasak People.

What makes Gili Air special?

Indonesia is home to many different cultures and tribes and, on the Gilis, you will come across the indigenous Sasak people. Their culture has been influenced by visitors of many parts of the world. Most of the Sasaks today are adherents of the ‘Waktu Lima’ version of Islam. ‘Waktu Lima’ or Five Times signifies the five daily prayers which Muslims are required to do. Yes, it is still Asia, but Buddhism is not the main religion here, that is what makes this place so unique.

Now, one thing that you will notice on the island rather quickly is that they are an Asian tribe that are very keen in conserving their lifestyle which is highly focused on delighting themselves in the beauty of their surrounding nature and the simplicity of life. Isn’t this what you are looking for? If so, you might want to go for a walk through their markets full of colorful souvenirs or relax in a beruga in front of the beach (traditional Sasak tent) and don’t forget to try their traditional dish, a ‘nasi campur’, with a little bit of ‘sambal’ if you dare to eat spicy. The options are endless and the experiences are definitely worth creating a high-quality photo album!     Gili Air Hotel Amenities

I'll shortly be visiting for the 3rd time, and have previously been honestly awed by the food you serve. I'm having visions of a steak pie with puff pastry top I recall being on your menu, as well as other superbly prepared western and local dishes. Is there any chance you could post an example of a typical menu, I think the menu alone is a significant draw, and I'd love to see what might be in store during my stay.
