Fast boat to Gili Air
Boats now run daily from the South of Bali and from Padang Bai, so depending on where you are planning to travel from we can help you pick the right option for you. Gone are the days where you needed to jump on a fishing boat to get directly to the Gilis! Now there are lots of different fast boats running from Bali to Gili Air.
The total journey times vary from between 2 - 4 hours depending on which boat you are using and where in Bali you are departing from. Pickup from your hotel in the morning for departures to Gili Air and a return service to your hotel in Bali are standard in the better fast boat companies. Please note: fast boats running between Bali and Gili Air usually only depart from Bali until noon. Late afternoon departures from Gili Air are also cancelled on occasion when the Lombok Strait develops unsafe conditions on windy days.
Costs are generally the same for all of the companies at around 600-650,000IDR one way.
There are now two main departure terminals in Bali: Serangan Harbor (near Sanur and close to the International airport) and Padang Bai (1 1/2 hr drive from Sanur). Several fast boat companies go directly to the harbour in Gili Air, others stop in Gili Trawangan and Lombok. You can also arrive via Amed (near famous Tulumban Liberty Wreck), but this is longer on the boat than the other harbors. From the Gili Air harbor you can take a horse cart around to Manta Dive, or take a leisurely 10 min walk to the shop.
